Our Roots in Petersville
The Underwood-Petersville community grew up just west of Florence as two neighboring settlements — Underwood and Petersville — that blended into one close-knit, family-centered corner of Lauderdale County. Churches have always been at the center of life here, and Petersville Church of Christ has long been one of those anchors: a place where generations of the same families have worshipped, studied the Bible, and served their neighbors together.
Our Faith
We are a congregation of the churches of Christ, part of the Restoration Movement’s plea to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where it is silent. In practice, that means:
The Bible, Our Only Authority
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only authority in matters of faith and practice.
Saved by Grace Through Faith
Salvation is by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ — heard, believed, repented of, confessed, and obeyed in baptism.
Simple, New Testament Worship
We worship the way the earliest Christians did: singing hymns a cappella, praying, giving, teaching, and remembering the Lord's death every Sunday at His table.
Self-Governed, Christ-Led
Each congregation is self-governed, led by shepherds and served by deacons, with no denominational headquarters.

Like every church of Christ, we’re led locally — by shepherds from within the congregation, served by deacons, and supported by our preaching minister.
Adam Richardson
Preaching MinisterAdam preaches and teaches at Petersville and leads Bible studies throughout the week. A Heritage Christian University graduate, he’s always glad to sit down with an open Bible and an open ear.
Our Shepherds & Deacons
Congregational LeadershipPetersville is overseen by elders from within the congregation and served by deacons who keep the work running. They’re approachable before and after every service — introduce yourself any Sunday.
Love God, Love Neighbors, Make Disciples
Simply put: to love God, love our neighbors, and make disciples in the Shoals and beyond. We support mission work near and far, operate a weekday daycare that serves families in our community, and stream our services for members who are homebound or traveling.
Getting Connected
The best way to get to know us is to come to a service or a Bible class. You’ll find ordinary people who love the Lord and one another — and there’s always room for one more at Petersville.
