About Petersville Church of Christ

Our Roots in Petersville

The Underwood-Petersville community grew up just west of Florence as two neighboring settlements — Underwood and Petersville — that blended into one close-knit, family-centered corner of Lauderdale County. Churches have always been at the center of life here, and Petersville Church of Christ has long been one of those anchors: a place where generations of the same families have worshipped, studied the Bible, and served their neighbors together.

Our Faith

We are a congregation of the churches of Christ, part of the Restoration Movement’s plea to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where it is silent. In practice, that means:

• The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only authority in matters of faith and practice.
• Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ — heard, believed, repented of, confessed, and obeyed in baptism.
• We worship simply, the way the earliest Christians did: singing hymns a cappella, praying, giving, teaching, and remembering the Lord’s death every Sunday at His table.
• Each congregation is self-governed, led by shepherds and served by deacons, with no denominational headquarters.

Love God, Love Neighbors, Make Disciples

Simply put: to love God, love our neighbors, and make disciples in the Shoals and beyond. We support mission work near and far, operate a weekday daycare that serves families in our community, and stream our services for members who are homebound or traveling.
